Alex Thompson

Program Director / Clinical Director

Alex brings over 25 years of dedicated experience in adolescent mental health and residential care to The Right Way Group Home.

As our Program and Clinical Director, he oversees the strategic vision of our care model, ensuring that every therapeutic, educational, and recreational interaction is rooted in evidence-based practice and our core commitment to long-term healing.

Clinical Philosophy
"I believe that when we create a space where a young person feels truly understood, they develop the resilience to rewrite their own narrative."

Professional Journey
Before joining The Right Way, Alex served as Clinical Director at Rise, where he led multidisciplinary teams in developing successful transition programs for at-risk youth. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of North Carolina.

Alex specializes in trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and family systems therapy, and has dedicated his career to dismantling the "treatment fatigue" that often occurs in traditional, sterile environments.

Why I Do This Work
"I have witnessed first hand that the difference between a temporary fix and lasting change is the quality of the environment. My goal at The Right Way is to foster a home where our staff, our families, and our clients are all working in harmony toward the same goal: equipping these young men and women with the tools they need to lead self-determined, successful lives long after they leave us."

Outside the Office
When not leading our clinical team, Alex enjoys hiking with his dog, creative writing, and restoring furniture, activities that mirror his own appreciation for growth, patience, and the restorative power of nature.
